Looking from my balcony at the hills on the North Coast of Salerno Bay. A force of U.S. Rangers captured a key pass through these hills, securing the Northern flank of the landing zone and along with the British Army paved the way for the advance on Naples. After dinner, Tony and I planned out the route we'd take tomorrow as we followed the last battle of Sidney Heistein from the Volturno River to Hill 446 where he and 8 others from Company B were killed. |
